Reducing infrastructure complexity with Collibra Cloud sites

Juggling new technologies and ROI is a major headache for every data-driven organization. Deriving value from data is no longer a luxury—it's a necessity. Yet, organizations often struggle to keep pace. According to Gartner, only 48% of digital initiatives enterprise-wide meet or exceed their business outcome targets. The primary obstacle is often the complexity and time required to set up the foundational infrastructure, which delays critical data initiatives.
What if you could bypass the setup and get straight to the insights?
What’s new: Collibra Cloud sites
We’re excited to introduce Collibra Cloud sites, a fully hosted and managed service that provides the data source connectivity backbone for the Collibra Platform. This strategic offering eliminates the need for you to deploy, configure or maintain an Edge site within your environment. Our expert team handles everything for you.
With Collibra Cloud sites, the goal is to deliver unparalleled speed-to-value. You can have a fully functional connection to your data sources and access to your chosen Collibra capabilities—such as Data Quality & Observability or Data Catalog—in just a few days. This isn't just an infrastructure solution; it's a strategic accelerator designed to deliver our powerful capabilities into your hands faster than ever before, allowing you to focus on driving business outcomes, not managing applications.
How Collibra Cloud sites help
Setting up and maintaining on-premises infrastructure for data connectivity is a significant drain on time, budget, and specialized engineering resources. The technical complexity can create a bottleneck that stalls entire data programs, preventing data leaders from delivering on strategic goals and leaving data consumers without the trusted data they need. Collibra Cloud sites remove this friction entirely by removing infrastructure set up and upkeep from the customer’s responsibilities.
This innovation directly solves several critical challenges:
- Long implementation cycles: It slashes the time-to-value from weeks to days
- Complex on-premises setup: It removes the need for customers to install, configure, and troubleshoot Edge sites
- Infrastructure and resource gaps: It eliminates the dependency on having available servers and dedicated engineering staff for maintenance
- High operational overhead: It offloads all monitoring, patching, and management to Collibra’s expert Cloud Operations team
- Security and connectivity hurdles: It provides a secure, managed pathway to your data sources, simplifying a traditionally complex process
How Collibra Cloud sites work
A Collibra Cloud site is a fully managed service that hosts the Edge component—the technology responsible for all connectivity and communication with your data sources—on behalf of our customers. When you're ready to get started, an Edge Administrator in your organization simply initiates the provisioning process with the click of a button inside the Collibra platform. This triggers an internal workflow for our Cloud Operations team, who then deploys a dedicated, secure site for you.

Collibra Cloud sites is hosted by Collibra, which allows you to integrate with cloud-native data sources out-of-the-box.
Our architecture is designed for security, scalability, and global reach. Each customer environment is deployed in its own isolated namespace, ensuring your processes and data are kept separate. For organizations with advanced security requirements, we plan to offer a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) setup to create a private network connection to your data sources. The service is available across all major AWS and GCP regions, ensuring low-latency connectivity no matter where your data resides. Our Cloud Operations team actively monitors every site 24/7 using advanced tools, such as Grafana, and treats any potential outage as a high-priority incident.

Simplify data source connectivity and synchronization with a fully managed Collibra service for faster time-to-value.
Why you should be excited

- Enhance Security & Reliability: Leverage a secure, isolated, and highly available service managed by Collibra, reducing your team's risk and support workload
- Data Steward & Data Analyst
- Gain Immediate Access: Connect to, profile, and analyze data from critical sources almost instantly, without waiting for IT to provision infrastructure
- Improve Productivity:Spend more time using data to generate insights and less time worrying about how to connect to it
Key use cases for Collibra Cloud sites
Collibra Cloud sites helps you:
- Rapidly launch a data quality program: Your organization needs to immediately assess and monitor the data quality in its primary Snowflake data warehouse before a major analytics rollout. With Collibra Cloud sites, you establish a secure connection in under a week. Your data stewards can instantly begin using Collibra DQ&O to profile data, create rules and surface quality scores to the Data Catalog, providing immediate trust metrics to the business
- Accelerate a cloud migration initiative: A company is migrating its on-premises databases to Google BigQuery. Instead of building out new connectivity infrastructure, they use a Collibra Cloud site to instantly connect to their new BigQuery environment. This allows the governance team to work in parallel with the migration team, cataloging new assets and applying policies as they land in the cloud, ensuring the new environment is fully governed from day one
- Empower federated business teams: A large enterprise wants to empower a new marketing analytics team to govern its own data lake in AWS S3. IT provisions a dedicated Collibra Cloud site for the marketing unit. This gives the analytics team a secure, self-service way to register, profile, and govern their data sources using the Collibra Platform, thereby freeing the central IT team from managing connectivity requests and empowering the business to move faster
Key takeaways of Collibra Cloud sites
Collibra Cloud sites powerfully support our vision of delivering a unified data governance platform. By abstracting away the most significant implementation hurdle—infrastructure setup and maintenance—we make the entire Collibra experience more seamless and integrated. This feature is a crucial step in delivering the power of a single platform, where every component works together seamlessly to help you achieve your business goals. It ensures that connectivity is no longer a barrier, but a simple, reliable utility that unlocks the full potential of your data.
